Kislev Tov!

Tonight and tomorrow are Rosh Chodesh Kislev, the beginning of the month of Kislev!

The most famous thing about Kislev is that on the 25th of the month, we will begin the celebration of Chanukah!

More about Chanukah soon – I just now noticed that I don’t yet have a Chanukah 101 entry on the blog.

  1. It’s time to get the menorah out of storage and polish it for the Holiday. I use my Bubbe & Zada’s, which is a treasure that my mother gave us when my husband and I married…so many wonderful memories for me from my childhood are attached to it. I will also be hunting for my mother’s latke recipe to copy for my nephew’s fiancee as a gift. This promises to be a delightful Chanukah for our family!

      1. Since you ask… to go with latkes, like my mother, I serve a choice of powered sugar, applesauce seasoned with cinnamon, sour cream and berries, brisket (but, oh no, not on the same table as the sour cream!), tzimmes, honey, and anything else delish I can find in my larder!
